Will it hurt?

Chances are, your dental fillings won’t hurt at all. Your dentist will give you medicine to numb your teeth, surrounding skin and gums so you should not feel anything or maybe some minor discomfort. You might be numb for a few hours, so you’ll want to be careful with eating so you don’t bite yourself accidentally. You shouldn’t have any complications, though, or even need pain medication after.

What material will my dentist use?

Dental fillings are made with different types of material and your dentist can help you choose the one that’s right for you. Your options include metal like silver or gold, composite material or porcelain and glass. Your insurance may cover one or another and your dentist and his or her staff can discuss this with you.

What can I expect after?
